The Palatinate Dinner saw a host of Team Durham athletes past and present, receiving recognition for their sporting efforts and commitments to their respective clubs. Awards included Honorary Palatinate for Outstanding Contribution to Sport, Full and Half Palatinates, Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, Club of the Year, Team of the Year, Honorary Life Membership and Outstanding Performance of the Year.

On Monday the 6th of June, Ramside Hall saw a fleet of athletes, coaches and staff come together to celebrate the Sporting Success of Team Durham Sports Teams and individual athlete performances. The night commenced with an Outstanding Contribution to Sport Honorary Palatinate, awarded to Cameron Henderson, Women's Rugby Coach, who has given 38 years to the sport. Cam's efforts are unparalleled, coupled with his persistence and enthusiasm, to make DUWRFC what is it today. Women's rugby is a significant part of Cam's life, as he has poured devotion into the club.  All of the staff, students and alumnus of Durham University and Team Durham cannot think of a more deserving person for this award.

Palatinates (Half and Full)

Palatinates are awards given by Durham University to its athletes or former athletes who demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Ability of a High Standard (international representation)
  • Service to a Club
  • Attitude and Commitment

The highest award is the Full Palatinate, given to those who have represented their country whilst at University and have, at the same time, also made a significant contribution to their club.

Half Palatinate awards are given to those who have either competed at a very high level, but not made a significant contribution to their club, or held a position of responsibility but lacked the necessary standard of sporting ability.
