Student Volunteering and Coach Development

Volunteering and coach development is at the heart of our programme. Volunteering is a fun, rewarding way to develop transferrable skills, gain experience and give back to the local community - click here for information and our current sports volunteering opportunities for students.

Students can join our Community sport activator scheme which offers tailored development opportunities and access to training courses.  Members of the public (age 14+) can also volunteer on our holiday camps programme.

Team Durham Sports Clubs

Team Durham currently host a number of regular Junior Sports Clubs across a number of sports. These can change throughout the year and currently include volleyball, tennis and hockey. Ages range from as young as 3 through to 17 depending on the activity. For more information please see our Team Durham Sports Club page Junior Sports Clubs - Durham University or email us at with any questions or to reserve a place.

Sport for Adults

We also provide opportunities for adults to access sport and physical activity provision, working with our community partners (Lanchester Road Hospital, Changing Lives, Blindlife, Waddington Street Centre and Resolve Care) where we use sport and physical activity to increase wellbeing and social inclusion.

Community Partnerships

We work very closely with the local community, working in partnership with organisations to offer a range of opportunities. These include working with Durham City and Chester le Street School Sports Partnership to host a variety of festivals and events, we offer strength and conditioning support to the Durham Institute of Sport programme working with Durham County Council and work with County Durham Sport to support the delivery of the School Games Programme.
