Piotr Osinski awarded doctorate at Warsaw University of Life Sciences

[12/24] Piotr Osinski has been awarded a PhD degree from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Piotr’s external PhD supervisor was Professor David Toll, Co-Director of the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR)

Congratulations to Dr Osinki

Piotr Osinski has been awarded a PhD degree from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Piotr, from the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, Institute of Civil Engineering, was co-supervised by Professor Eugeniusz Koda (Institute of Civil Engineering, Warsaw University of Life Sciences) and Professor David Toll (IHRR Co-Director). His thesis was titled “The influence of water saturation state on slope stability conditions” (Wpływ stanu nasycenia gruntów na warunki stateczności skarp).

Piotr was an academic visitor at Durham University in 2014. He worked closely with Professor Toll on research relating to the EPSRC funded iSmart project and later collaborated in the EU COST action TU1202  “Impact of climate change on engineered slopes for infrastructure”.

Dr Osinski’s PhD thesis has been recognised as making a significant contribution to the geotechnical field and has been awarded a special distinction.
