[07/24] Dr Harries (IHRR) builds evidence for catastrophic sediment transport in Chile
Dr Rebekah Harries, Post-Doctoral Research Associate at The Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR), returned to Chile to investigate the physical impacts of a second extreme flood event on the Rio Teno, which occurred 52 days after the most extreme flood in living memory. Her focus was on finding evidence for the cascading sediment hazards that accompanied these two events.
She is now working with Chilean climate and landslide researchers to understand the role of storm meteorology in mobilising sediment downstream to where people live.
