Rio Teno in Chile following a major flood. The river is wide and full of sediment

[09/24] Dr Harries spoke at British Society for Geomorphology conference on catastrophic sediment transport

Dr Rebekah Harries, Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) at Durham University was invited to speak at the Cuchlaine King symposium on Extreme events in Geomorphology at the 2024 British Society for Geomorphology Annual conference.

Dr Harries spoke about the role of storm temperature and storm sequence in driving catastrophic sediment transport events along the Rio Teno in Central Chile and what this might mean for future responses of sediment-laden mountain catchments under climate change.
