During our seminar we will explore how, by changing our risk perspectives from common consequence towards community impact, we can begin to place people and their communities at the heart of an emergency response. We will explore how perspectives can change when the risk gaze moves from that of the state and its bureaucracy, towards communities, their connections and connectedness. The presentation will pose questions about whether this approach will provide a more inclusive approach to disaster planning.
