The STFC Food Network+ brings together interdisciplinary teams of STFC researchers, industry and the academic community across more than 25 countries for collaborative research to develop sustainable innovations tackling challenges confronting the global food sector.
The programme cuts across Data Science and Technology developments aimed at promoting sustainable primary food production, supply chains and manufacturing, understanding consumer behaviour, and improving nutrition. The 2023 annual conference was held in York (UK) on 3-4 July. Steve Chivasa's research under this programme uses bioprospecting of the soil microbiome to develop an innovation for drought protection of crops. The award was presented by the University of York Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Partnerships and Engagement, Professor Kiran Trehan (in picture).
