2025 Photography Competition Entries
All the wonderful entries we received in the 2025 competition can be viewed below.
2025 Winner
Photographer: Shivona Chellakootty
Location: Manchester
Description: This inquisitive goose undoubtedly lives in the memories of all on the Manchester field trip as the 6am "Honk Honk" alarm. I took this picture on my last day at the youth hostel, waiting for my friends to finish saying goodbye to the lecturers. What started as a comical interruption became a quiet moment of pause - an example of how place becomes felt. Geography explores space through different perspectives. This knowledge shapes how we interact with the world: holistically, curiously. From the perspectives in this image, the city canal wasn't just functional - it was her home. And for one delicate moment, she made me the visitor.
2025 Runner-up
Photographer: Bella Jarvis
Location: Glenn Torra Mhichaig, Isle of Skye
Description: This image captures a highland cow resting amid the hummocky terrain of Glenn Torra Mhichaig, Isle of Skye. The glacially sculpted landscape of undulating ground and exposed sediment lithofacies shed light onto the glacial history of the area and associated processes. These moraines are central to numerous Skye based geomorphological projects, which investigate Quaternary glaciation patterns, climate reconstructions and sediment transport processes.
