Team Durham is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Coldwell as the new Head of Sport and Physical Activity.
Dave steps into the role of Head of Sport after spending the past nine years in various positions at the university most recently as Deputy Head of Sport. Dave moved to England in 1998, following his undergraduate career at Drexel University where he graduated with a BA in Business and Administration with a concentration in Finance as well competing at the Division 1 level in lacrosse.
He has spent his working career in sports development in senior positions at England Lacrosse whilst also serving on various committees and other volunteer roles prior to joining Durham University.
Dave is also active in the Higher Education Sport Sector where he currently works with BUCS as a representative for the Northeast region and Durham University as well as chairing the Northeast Universities Forum. Dave brings a wealth of experience in both playing and working in sports to this leadership position.
Team Durham is thrilled to have Dave lead the organisation into the future. His extensive experience and deep-rooted connection to Durham position him well to drive the university’s sporting excellence to new heights. When asked about his new role, Dave said:
"I’m really excited about this opportunity and the chance to work with our incredible students, staff, and alumni community. Durham is a prestigious university, not only for its academic reputation, but also for its sporting pedigree and long history of success. I am also keen to further our well-established partnerships with the local community including schools, clubs and other groups."
Team Durham takes great pride in being recognised as one of Britain’s leading sporting universities and is confident that this legacy is secure under Dave’s leadership. Looking ahead, the university’s sporting reputation remains in capable hands. Dave concluded with:
"There are plenty of challenges ahead, but also fantastic opportunities to further establish Durham as a top destination for students who prioritise both academics and sporting excellence."
An exciting new era of Durham sport awaits, and as always, we will continue to strive for sporting success.
