Sport for Adults

We also provide opportunities for adults to access sport and physical activity provision, working with our community partners (including Waddington Street Centre, Lanchester Road Hospital, Waythrough, Low Vis Rowing Club, Resolve Care and Durham Police) where we use sport and physical activity to increase wellbeing and social inclusion.

Community Partnerships

We work very closely with the local community, working in partnership with organisations to offer a range of opportunities. These include working with Durham City and Chester le Street School Sports Partnership to host a variety of festivals and events, we offer strength and conditioning support to the Durham Institute of Sport programme working with Durham County Council and work with County Durham Sport to support the delivery of the School Games Programme.

Supporting Local Clubs

The University Sport and Wellbeing Park is home to many local clubs and teams including Durham City Harriers, Elvet Striders, Lazlo's Fencing Club, Durham Mums on the Run, Durham City Hockey Club, City of Durham Fives Club and Durham Women Football Club.

Volunteering and Coach Development

Volunteering and coach development is at the heart of our programme and we offer both opportunities to members of the public through our Holiday Camps programme and to University students with our Community sport activator scheme .
