Epiphany Term at Ustinov College

Epiphany Term at Ustinov College has seen an exciting range of activities taking place.

Our Global Citizenship Programme continues to offer a variety of events and activities including ‘Video Games as an Awareness Medium’ (Café des Arts), ‘Science, Technology and the Law’ (Café Scientifique) and ‘Changing Cities - Climate Change and Risk Governance in the Global South’ (Café Politique). We have also seen a Harry Potter themed litter pick (Volunteering), a 2 Minute Business Pitch competition (SUCCESS / Seminar) and an ‘International Mother Language Day celebration’ (Ustinov Intercultural Forum).

Our Graduate Common Room (GCR) have hosted live mic and karaoke nights, their weekly quiz nights and a number of themed party nights – Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day to name but two. Our GCR affiliated sports teams have worked hard this year and two of our teams – women’s football and mixed volleyball – have both won their respective league titles; we will host a ‘Celebration of College sport’ reception in June for all members of our sports clubs to enjoy.

We also continue to engage with our local neighbours with our Café open to local community residents and groups, and local families invited along to various family-focussed events – our annual ‘Egg Day’ is coming up in late April featuring an on-site ‘egg hunt’, arts and crafts and a special Easter related visitor for our younger guests, organised by Ustinov GCR!

International Women’s Day 2022 at Ustinov College

International Women’s Day on March 8th was marked by a month-long programme of events and activities at Ustinov.

Including a Night Walk to raise money for charity, organised by our Volunteering Team, a SUCCESS seminar dedicated to the topic of women in entrepreneurship, a two part interview series with two inspirational speakers reflecting our tagline of ‘Local Community, Global Citizens’, a Café Scientifique seminar featuring women panellists who had moved from science based roles into alternative professions, and a Café Politique focusing on women in protest movements in Africa. The Graduate Common Room also hosted film nights and quiz nights around the International Women’s Day theme.
