Senior Common Room

Ustinov College Senior Common Room exists to support the life of the College and to enhance its integration into the wider University and local community.

The membership of Ustinov College’s SCR is as lively, diverse, and engaging as our international postgraduate community. As an SCR member, you are invited to formal dinners, topical seminars with academics from around the world, history walks, sightseeing trips, and a range of social events—from cheese & wine evenings to family fun days.

The SCR co-hosts some of the College’s academic, cultural, and community events. In addition, members are invited to Graduate Common Room-led sports events and social entertainment, such as film nights and a weekly pub quiz.

• supports College research and scholarly activity,
• builds links with the wider University and North East communities
• forges working relationships with the College’s GCR and college scholars through jointly planned events
• welcomes and hosts visiting fellows
• organises social and recreational activities that are integral to enhancing College Life
• facilitates collegiality and the development of global citizenship
• provides opportunities to support the professional development of Ustinov students
• supports interdisciplinary dialogue with postgraduate students, academics and community members
