In this mini lecture, we will be exploring the construction of virtual “communities of illness” through the circulation of collective – sometimes competing – narratives. What are the possibilities and limitations of the digital medium as a mode of relating to another? Are some voices and narrative forms privileged? What does it mean for the narrative self to exist within a broader ecosystem? We will be unpacking these provocations through an analysis of Lizzy Rose’s ‘Sick, blue sea’.
