Uncovering UCAS Discovery: what to expect and how to prepare

UCAS Exhibitions are a great way for you to talk to lots of universities and companies about what you want to do after school. Every stall is manned by super friendly staff who hold a wealth of information to help you. Here are some top tips on what to prepare for any Higher Education Exhibition you may attend.

First of all, nobody has to prepare anything! In many cases we’re speaking to students who have only just started thinking about their Higher Education journey. We often get questions such as ‘what subjects do you do?’ and ‘where is Durham?’ from students who know absolutely nothing about us. Some students want more specific information, and others just want a general chat, and whatever it is we are absolutely happy to answer.

However, it’s always helpful to be prepared! Here are some things for you to think about before attending...

  • What do I want from my university experience?
  • What is my favourite subject? What are my passions and priorities?
  • Do I have any sort of career in mind after university?
  • Do I want to go to a city or campus university? What size city do I want to live in?
  • How far do I want to be from home? Do I want to commute or move away?
  • Are there any particular universities I want to speak to?

UCAS and many other Higher Education Exhibitions are amazing events for school groups to attend, and there is still time to book on to your closest event! Exhibitions can also be booked individually so if your school cannot go as a group, make sure to look into any events you can attend on your own or with your parents.

We will be attending 28 UCAS Fairs between March and July this year across the UK, why not come and say hello?
