Tara is the Deputy Director Sunderland & South Tyneside, NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, working closely with health and care providers and partners across the Integrated Care System. She plays a leadership role in developing a system-wide response to configuring and delivering services and support in Newcastle such that patients experience the best health outcomes possible and resources are used to maximum effect.
Previously, Tara was the Chief Executive Officer of Ways to Wellness for six years, a health charity delivering at-scale social prescribing. Ways to Wellness was the first health service in the UK (and globally) to test social impact bond (SIB) investment paired with a fully outcomes-based contract. Prior to that Tara worked for ten years worked delivering clinical patient care as an Occupational Therapist in England and Canada. In Tara’s early career she worked for six years an exploration geologist in far corners of the world.
She recently held a Fellow of Practice position with the University of Oxford’s Government Outcomes Lab for two years. She is currently a Trustee of Groundwork North East and Cumbria and Non-Executive Director of the North East Social Investment Company. Tara has an MBA from Durham University, an MSc (Occupational Therapy) from McMaster University and a BSc (Geology) from University of British Columbia. In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga, time with family and friends, being outdoors and learning new things.
