Congratulations to 1st year PhD student Paul Dirk for winning the Cryst. Eng. Comm. poster prize for his poster entitled “Energy landscape of the brownmillerite Sr2ScGaO5 from first principles calculations” at the spring meeting of the British Crystallographic Association (April 2023, Sheffield).

Lots of us from Durham Physics found the meeting really stimulating and it was a privilege to be able to share some of our work. Cameron Scott and Alex Lione gave talks during the Young Crystallographers’ Group meeting. During the main meeting Dr Urmimala Dey, Dr Nick Bristowe and Dr Emma McCabe also gave talks, and Emma chaired the “Teaching Crystallography” session (joint between the chemical and physical crystallography groups).
