Durham ARCTIC PhD student Giuseppe Amatulli has written a piece for The Conversation following a landmark ruling by the British Columbia Supreme Court, who found that the Blueberry River First Nation's treaty rights were infringed by the B.C government, allowing decades of industrial development on their lands.
Giuseppe's research focuses on the cumulative effects of industrial development and their impact on the culture, lifestyle, and socio-economic organization of two First Nation communities in BC, one of which is the Blueberry first River Nation. His view on the importance of this ruling for Indigenous rights is given in this article.
