Professor Dorothee Kimmich

Headshot of Professor Dorothee KimmichDorothee Kimmich is Professor of Modern German Literary Studies/Literary Cultural Studies/Cultural Theory at the University of Tübingen. 

She received her PhD in 1991 from the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Germany.

Her research interests include:

  • Literary Theory and Cultural Theorty Literaturtheorie und Kulturtheorie
  • 19th and 20th Century Literature und Philosophy
  • Modern classical literature 
  • Modern Literary and Cultural History 
  • Race Theory

Since 2023, Professor Kimmich is a member of the Advisory Board of the College of Fellows at the University of Tübingen.  She is the Director of the binational research training group “New Critical Theories and Decentralized Epistemologies” with Université Jean Jaurès, Toulouse (supported by the DFH/UFA), since 2022.  She is also the Head of the Tübingen Poetics Lectureship (Würth Group Foundations) (since 2005). She has previously served as Vice Dean for International Affairs of the Faculty of Humanities (2010–2016).
