Optical Telescopes

PT5m

The automated SLODAR optical turbulence profiler at the ORM in La Palma, based on a 0.5m telescope, doubles as a robotic observatory for optical photometry and transient astronomy. Details of the system can be found in the following here. The group have two 0.5 m telescopes for technology development.

Smaller telescopes

The group own and operate several smaller telescopes, including in Durham and La Palma. We currently operate a fleet of over 10 telescopes from 20cm up to 40cm.

We often travel to locations such as ESO Paranal, Chile, to test new technologies and techniques.
