Want to know more about how we interact with our local community?

Our monthly Community Newsletter explores the news, events, and research both at Durham University and in the city itself.

This month, we’re running various family-friendly events such as arts-based workshops and celebrating Rosh Hashanah at the Oriental Museum.

We’re also launching an 'Older Adults Supporting Science' event in early October where attendees can socialise with like-minded people and enjoy refreshments at Shakespeare Hall on North Road.

We've also featured news that might interest our local community.

This includes information about our upcoming term dates and the renaming of the Assembly Rooms Theatre to the Sir Thomas Allen Assembly Rooms Theatre in honour of our former Chancellor.

Outside of term-time our academics continue to conduct impactful research and we’ve highlighted some of this work in the Community Newsletter.

This includes how our Department for Mathematical Sciences has contributed to a Scottish Patients at Risk of Readmission project and how our Computer Science Department is working on a device to help outpatients undertake physical therapy at home in a safe way.
