Pain unmasking and managing through dance

Balbir Singh (Fellow of the Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing (WRIHW) and Director of Balbir Singh Dance Company (BSDC)) and Dr Paul Chazot (Director of the Pain Challenge Academy and Associate Professor in our Department of Biosciences) have developed a unique and popular research programme called 'Unmasking Pain'. It consists of modules that enhance creativity and namaste care using dance movements, music and many other creative art forms for chronic pain self-management. This unique programme was awarded the Fuse Health award in 2023 and the BSDC has also recently been awarded funding from the Arts Council, from 2023-2026, as part of their investment programme.
