I’m proud and delighted to celebrate twenty years of Social Work education at Durham University. Social Work is an important profession providing families, children and vulnerable adults with crucial support, meet their needs and, in so doing, enact social justice. It is a valued aspect of the University’s civic strategic goals, meeting the needs both of the regional labour market and local people and children facing severe hardship and need.

As a partner agency, what I enjoy most about working with the MSW programme is sharing experiences with students about working with young carers and helping the students to learn about caring roles and their impacts. For those interested in joining the MSW, be prepared for hard work, be open minded and curious!

The course is simply fantastic. I cannot emphasise enough the effort the entire Sociology Department puts into the programme, from support academically to the quality of visiting guest lecturers. They respond to feedback and adapt the course accordingly. I have been inspired, challenged, and engaged. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to embark on this course.
