Prof Stacey Pope

Professor Stacey Pope is based in the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Durham University. She is a world leader in the area of women, football and inequalities. Her presentation is entitled Women and Football Fandom: Tackling Sexism and Misogyny. This draws on her previous and ongoing interview-based research with women football fans, alongside a new programme of work which examined men’s attitudes towards women in sport and a backlash against advances in gender equality. This research has recently been presented as written and oral evidence for three government select inquiries for the DCMS and Women and Equalities Committee. The work has received major national and international media exposure.

This seminar will be delivered in a hybrid format. Please select either online/in person at the ticket selection stage. You will receive an automated reply with the relevant meeting information shortly after registering. Please check your spam/junk folders.
