David Patient

David is Senior Adviser Corporate at Travers and Smith. David has a broad corporate practice, specialising in UK and international M&A. He advises public and private companies on the full spectrum of corporate matters including mergers, acquisitions, disposals, investments, corporate joint ventures and general advisory work. 

David trained at Travers Smith and became a partner in 1999. He established Travers Smith's Paris office in the same year, and spent several years splitting his time between London and Paris. David was the Managing Partner of Travers Smith between January 2015 and June 2021, and a member of its Partnership Board from 2010 until he stepped down as Managing Partner.

David is a member of The Law Society Council representing major corporate firms, the Committee of The City of London Law Society, as well as the Membership Officer of the IBA Law Firm Management Committee. David was awarded the Management Partner of the Year Award at the 2021 Legal Business Awards.

David is a member of the 30% Club, which strives for gender balance on boards and in senior management positions.
