Transforming Inspection for Good

While aspects of Ofsted have changed, and some of the initial excesses have been dropped, it remains essentially the same beast. This leopard will not change its spots. Standards in schools have not changed for the 30 years that Ofsted has been in place.

We need to transform the system and propose that we take an evidence-based approach and set up an alternative inspection system in one representative area of England. It would run alongside Ofsted for 5 years. The findings of this quasi-experiment would then be used as the basis of reform.
