Congratulations and Welcome to New Undergraduate Students

Welcome from the Principal

Congratulations on earning your place at Durham University and Trevelyan College. You should be extremely proud of this accomplishment.

Let me tell you about the amazing community you're joining. Trevelyan (Trevs) is a vibrant, supportive, and empowering place where you'll be valued and encouraged to step outside your comfort zone, gain new experiences to prepare for the future, and develop lifelong skills. We inspire our students to explore their interests, find new passions, and push themselves to achieve more. There's something for everyone, including a range of extracurricular activities, sports, arts, and community outreach programs.

I encourage you to engage actively, forge new friendships, and build lasting memories during your time here. I am genuinely excited to witness your growth and successes at Trevs. Keep in mind, you are not just students but essential members of the Trevs family. Your individual perspectives, talents, and contributions will enhance and unite our community.

I'm thrilled to welcome you to Trevelyan in September. When you arrive, you'll have numerous opportunities to meet the staff. Meanwhile, take a moment to visit our college staff pages and learn more about us. Your initial days at university will be exciting, yet they might also feel overwhelming. If you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to chat, don't hesitate to contact us.

Please review our induction web pages carefully and complete all required forms promptly. Doing so will help make your arrival smooth and hassle-free. The Trevs Induction Checklist is a handy resource to track what you need to do before arriving—save it and check off tasks as you finish them. If you have any questions, reach out to us at admissions.trevelyan@durham.ac.uk or 0191 334 7001.

To help you keep track of where you need to be, and what you need to do during your first busy days at university, in your College and your Department, we have created a day-by-day University Induction Planner. This should help you to plan your schedule, so you don't miss anything - from being issued with your Campus Card or meeting the staff in your Department, to trying out for a sports team or joining a student society.
