St John's College alumni gathered for a lively evening at the Escapologist Bar in Seven Dials on Wednesday 15 November for a special Alumni Drinks event to meet the new Principal, Professor Jolyon Mitchell. The atmosphere was one of nostalgia and camaraderie as Johnians, particularly from the 1990s and 2000s, turned out in impressive numbers.
With around 70 guests, the event provided a delightful platform for reminiscing about shared experiences, forging new connections, and celebrating the enduring spirit of the St John's community. The venue buzzed with animated conversations and laughter, creating an ambiance that perfectly complemented the warmth and enthusiasm of the attendees. Friendships were rekindled and memories were shared, creating a memorable evening for all who attended.
Looking ahead, we hope to host alumni drinks evenings in many more cities. We'd love to hear from you if you'd like to help coordinate an alumni event in your area.
The success of the London Alumni Drinks event serves as a testament to the enduring bonds forged at St John's College and the eagerness of our alumni to stay connected across the years.
We also extend a warm invitation to all alumni to join us for 'Once A Johnian' Formals in Durham, which are career-themed formal dinners. With a range of guests from across the John's community, these dinners offer a great opportunity for alumni to experience college life as it is today, while inspiring and sharing expertise with current students.
