Our students are continuing to do amazing things – in sport, music and volunteering.
These experiences are made possible by our Opportunities Fund built entirely from donations from our alumni, allowing our students to develop personally and culturally, to participate in College life and to make the most of opportunities irrespective of financial circumstances.
Music highlights include the Grey College Choir – the largest non-auditioned choir in the University who perform beautiful music around Durham and took their summer concert on tour.
The fantastic success of Northern Lights A Cappella group in getting to World Finals in New York is worth a special mention. Talented first year Grey student Joe Butler-Smith sings and leads choreography for Northern Lights. He said Performing on the stage in front of such a huge audience was ‘the most incredible moment of my life’. ‘I felt so proud of myself and of the group, knowing that all of our hard work had led us to this point.’ Next stop the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!
Over this year Grey students have been supported to participate in sports teams and national events, volunteering in the UK and overseas, language programmes, internships and work experience, research projects and theatre productions, to name a few!
