Cycling
Cycling is a good way to not only travel to the University but to explore Durham City and the surrounding area. It has many benefits including health, fitness, saves you money and reduces traffic and associated emissions on our roads. Even if you just walk your bike up the hills you will still get fitter and enjoy a clean, efficient, and more relaxed form of transport.
As part of our Estate Masterplan, the University recently (Summer 2021) invested over £6 million on a new infrastructure improvements project to assist safe movement for staff, students and visitors around our Estate with a new cycle and pedestrian route between our hill college residences and university buildings.
Cycle storage
Cycle storage is available across the University Estate, located outside/adjacent to our buildings including shelters and cycle stands for staff, students and visitors.
Cycle to Work Scheme
The University has a cycle to work scheme which can be accessed through our internal employee benefits platform. Further details are available find more information on our internal rewards hub.
Information on where to cycle in County Durham, whether you're a commuter, cycle for leisure or you're visiting the area is available on the Durham County Council's website.
