Green Move Out 2024

The Green Move Out scheme started out in just one college in 2005, and it has run every year since, growing to include all colleges and students living out in the wider community.

The Green Move Out scheme started out in just one college in 2005, and it has run every year since, growing to include all colleges and students living out in the wider community.

We will be distributing purple bags to student properties, colleges and student accommodation from 20th May onwards. Please fill the bag with any of the following items:

  • Clothing
  • Paired shoes
  • Bedding
  • Books
  • Electrical items
  • Pots and pans 
  • Crockery and cutlery
  • Tins, packets, jars and boxes of non-perishable food (in date)

Leave your purple bag outside of your property for our charity partners to collect. Purple bags will be collected by County Durham Furniture Help Scheme (CDFHS) and will be used to support those in need in the local area. 

Please do not donate any of the following items:

  • General waste or food waste
  • Personal or financial information
  • Medication - return this to your local pharmacy 

Remember to leave your room and house in good condition. Ensure rubbish is always placed in a bin with the lid closed and placed at your normal collection point. Do not leave litter in the street.

You can collect more bags from Maiden Castle, Bill Bryson Library, Palatine reception and the Student Union. 

Please leave your bag outside of your property for collection.
