Fiona Hill Scholarships

We are delighted to announce the introduction of the Fiona Hill Scholarships which has been specifically designed to support applicants from the North East of England.

Duration

For a maximum of 4 years which can include:

A foundation year 

An integrated Masters programme

or 

A 3 year undergraduate programme followed directly by a 1 year Masters programme.

Eligibility

Applicant must:

  • have a household income below £42,875.00 as determined by Student Finance England

  • be resident in one of the following North East postal regions; DH, DL, NE, SR or TS with preference given to applicants from Bishop Auckland

How to apply

  1. Apply for a course

    Submit an academic application to Durham University via UCAS for an available programme of study.

  2. Apply for the scholarship

    Scholarship Application 

     

     

    •  Send a copy of your Student Finance England letter detailing the amount of maintenance loan you will receive to scholarship.application@durham.ac.uk - if you do  not have this document by the deadline please provide a copy as soon as you are able to.

     

    • Make your referee aware of the scholarship you have applied for and the deadline for receipt of your reference - guidance information is provided below.

  3. Reference Guidance

    A character reference from one of your teachers in support of your scholarship application to be sent by email to scholarship.application@durham.ac.uk. Please ensure your referee submits the reference on letter headed paper which contains:

    • their name
    • position
    • contact details
    • the name of the scholarship
    • your full name
  4. Selection process

    Scholarship applications will be considered on the basis of their ability to meet the eligibility criteria, academic potential, personal statement and the reference provided.

     

    In addition to the information supplied on the scholarship application form, the University will gather contextual information to support the assessment of scholarship applications.
