Our Master's Guarantee

No student currently completing an undergraduate degree in a UK University will be denied entry to a Master's programme for which they have been made an offer on grounds of missing marks due to industrial action, where existing marks indicate the student is likely to meet the conditions of their offer.

Supporting evidence

If you are currently holding an offer from us for a Master’s programme and have been affected by the marking and assessment boycott taking place at some UK universities, we will support you to progress to postgraduate study. Depending on your circumstances, you will be able to upload supporting evidence to your Applicant Portal. The list below outlines what you need to do:

  1. If you have received all of your marks and have been awarded a final degree classification, please upload evidence of this to your Applicant Portal. Your place at Durham will be confirmed if you have met the conditions of your offer.
  2. If you have been given an interim or provisional award, including an interim or provisional classification, please upload evidence of this to your Applicant Portal. Your place at Durham will be confirmed if your interim award indicates that you would meet the conditions of your offer.
  3. If you have been advised of the award you are on track to receive, please upload to your Applicant Portal evidence of any marks you have achieved which states clearly the year (i.e. first, second etc) in which these modules were taken.  You should also provide evidence of any final award you are on track to receive, whether classified or unclassified.  We will review all the evidence you have provided and will confirm your place at Durham if we are able to do so.  If we are not able to confirm your place at Durham we will write to you to let you know that you will need to send us additional information before your place can be confirmed
  4. If you have been given an interim transcript of current marks and a letter explaining your situation issued by your university, please upload to your Applicant Portal evidence of any marks you have achieved which states clearly the year (i.e. first, second etc) in which they have been achieved.  We will review all the evidence you have provided and will confirm your place at Durham if we are able to do so.  If we are not able to confirm your place at Durham we will write to you to let you know that you will need to send us additional information before your place can be confirmed
  5. If you have not been given any marks or an indication of a provisional outcome, please upload to your Applicant Portal evidence of any marks you have achieved which states clearly the year (i.e. first, second etc) in which they have been achieved.  We will review all the evidence you have provided and will confirm your place at Durham if we are able to do so.  If we are not able to confirm your place at Durham we will write to you to let you know that you will need to send us additional information before your place can be confirmed.

When uploading your documents, please make sure these have been issued officially by your university, and bear their official logo and a signatory. Please also send us your official certificate when you receive it.

PLEASE NOTE:  If your offer includes conditions in addition to your degree (for example an English language qualification), you will also need to upload this evidence to your portal to enable us to confirm your place at Durham.

If you have applied for a PGCE (but NOT the PGCE International), you should upload all documents to education.admissions@durham.ac.uk.
