Enactus Durham

Enactus Durham is a student-led organisation that works to develop social enterprise projects – locally and internationally.

In joining Enactus, students are able to develop skills in innovation, creativity, business acumen and leadership.

Enactus Durham currently have 3 active projects:

    • Taka Taka Zero – based in Nairobi and using a community cooker to combat waste in an informal settlement
    • The Ugly Fruit Group – local to Durham, turning surplus fruit & vegetables into jams and other condiments to sell and support the local food bank
    • Glowcycle – supporting former women prisoners back into work or education

They are always looking for new members to join – either to participate in an existing project or to work with the Venture Lab team to develop ideas for new social enterprises.

Enactus Durham are the reigning UK Champions, for the second year running, having won the national competition in April 2024. They represented both the University and Enactus UK & Ireland at the World Cup in Kazakhstan in October 2024, placing in the top 16.

If you would like to join this award winning team or have any questions, please contact Rachel Bickerdike, Enactus University Adviser.

I was inspired to be involved as I felt I could make a meaningful difference to people and the environment in a sustainable, community-driven way. The Venture Lab team have been so helpful, from chatting through our ideas, building our skills in areas we found daunting and providing access to an extensive network of contacts as well as use of the Hazan Venture Lab.
