Current Research
My thesis investigates contemporary forms of political dissent that have converged under a demand for freedom during the Covid-19 pandemic. I am interested in how movements structured in response to lock downs and vaccination policies, have evolved into an organized opposition to issues such as low emissions zones and central bank digital currencies. Mainly, I seek to understand the specific place that the idea of freedom takes in the claims and activism of these movements. I ask: why has freedom become such an intense object of concern in this particular time and space? What type of activism do people engage in to reclaim this idea of freedom? What place does this activism take in the everyday lives of people?
