Research interests
- Maria joined the School of Education in 2022. Her award-winning work focuses on pedagogical methodologies and assessment across the educational board, popular music performance and interpretation as well as activism, social entrepreneurship and digital business in the creative industries and beyond. She holds a Ph.D. by research in Musicology, a Master's degree in Art, Law and Economy and has been recently among the Newcastle University Alumni Achievement Awards (2021), the Music and Drama Education Awards (finalist, 2023) and the SheInspires Awards (finalist, 2023 and 2024). She has previously worked at the School of Arts and Cultures, the School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics and the Careers Service at Newcastle University, the Faculty of Business and Law at Northumbria University as well as the Department of Modern Greek Language, Literature and Culture at the University of Geneva. She is an Associate Fellow of the Advance Higher Education and a member of The British Academy Early Career Researcher Network.
