Biography

Lynn Hanyuning Lin is a research student at the school of Education, Durham University and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). She is currently under the supervision of Prof Nadin Beckmann and Prof Simon Rees. She completed B.Soc.Sc. in Psychology (honours) at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and MSc in Information Technology in Education at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).

Prior to her PhD study, Lynn worked as a digital learning designer at HKU, mainly to explore the potential of educational technologies and e-learning pedagogies to enhance student engagement and achievement. She is also the product designer of an educational Metaverse – Curios (https://linktr.ee/curiosmetaverse). Lynn was a recipient of QS Reimagine Education ICT Tools Bronze Award (2021) and HKU Teaching Innovation (Team) Award (2020).

Lynn is interested in learners' psychological mechanisms in the virtual environment, namely the interplay between socio-emotion, behaviour, and cognition. Her PhD study will examine the role of socialisation and visibility in university students’ learning experiences and try to interpret from the aspects of contextual and designed structure and learner psychological needs.
