The annual World Heritage Site Public Lecture, featuring a lecture delivered by Ross Forbes, Chief Executive of the Durham Miners' Association, on the subject of "Mining World Heritage: What Makes Us Who We Are?"
The annual World Heritage Site Public Lecture 2024 is organised by the Institute of Early Modern Studies (IMEMS) in partnership with the Durham UNESCO World Heritage Site, Durham Cathedral Institute and the City of Durham Trust. The lecture, delivered by Ross Forbes, Chief Executive of the Durham Miners’ Association, will be on the subject of ‘Mining World Heritage: What Makes Us Who We Are?’ and will be followed by a panel discussion, chaired by Professor Ita Mac Carthy and featuring, among others, the Chancellor Fiona Hill. A drinks reception, with the opportunity to view a temporary exhibition of Miners’ Banners in Durham Cathedral’s nave, will follow.
