We are delighted to welcome Carolyn Blake who joins the Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities as our new Operations Manager.
The Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities has a new home. You can find the The Platform website here.
Carolyn is an experienced administrator, manager, and team leader with an undergraduate degree in Business Studies. She has previously worked in senior administrative roles at the Centre for Trials Research and South East Wales Trials Unit (both at Cardiff University) and supporting roles in the BA(Hons) Social Work Programme at the University of Wales Institute, and at the National Association of Head Teachers. Carolyn’s experience includes leading teams of research administrators and executive assistants, setting up business systems and procedures, writing standard operating procedures, organising events, and creating training programmes to achieve operational goals.
As Operations Manager for the Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities, Carolyn will establish operational processes and procedures, lead on financial planning, manage the central administrative team, the building, and facilities, and head the logistics for the Platform events programme. Carolyn is keen to continue to support research and wants to make a positive impact upon the Platform’s aim to bring perspectives and practices from the arts, humanities, and social sciences to bear on all aspects of health and human experience. She has enjoyed the privilege of being able to support research within a registered clinical trials unit and is excited to be given the opportunity to provide support within the medical humanities arena and the Discovery Research Platform.
Carolyn will take up her full-time position in Durham from November. Until then, she will work with us one day per week while she serves her notice period at Cardiff.
We warmly welcome Carolyn to Durham University and look forward to working with her.
