As our wonderful colleagues Harriet, Fiona and Tehseen move on to pastures new, we are seeking three part-time Associate Editors to join the Editorial Team of our medical humanities web platform The Polyphony.
Launched in 2018, The Polyphony has rapidly become the leading international web platform for medical humanities research, engaging a wide range of readers – academics, health professionals and the general public – in conversations about the latest developments in this interdisciplinary field.
Associate Editors x 3 (2-3 hours/week, £12.56/hour)
The Associate Editors will be responsible for pro-actively sourcing content for the site, liaising with contributors, and editing, uploading, promoting and monitoring posts. One or two posts will have a specific responsibility for book reviews, the other(s) for curating more general content. The Associate Editors will have a genuine passion for medical humanities and a degree in a relevant subject. They must also be self-motivated with excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships with contributors and colleagues. We are keen to hear from applicants who can help to bring in more diverse international perspectives and voices. We would also particularly welcome applications from individuals with demonstrated interests in health inequalities, the expertise of experience, intersectionality, or collaborations with non-academic partners.
Applicants MUST be eligible to work in the UK.
Although formally based in Durham at the Institute for Medical Humanities, this work can be done remotely. The exact working pattern is very flexible, but regular engagement is essential, and Editors will be expected to publish a minimum of 2 posts per month.
