Hands holding a sphere of globe.
Dr Simona Capisani, Assistant Professor of Environmental Philosophy, is one of three delegates to represent Durham University at the UN Biodiversity Conference (https://www.cbd.int/meetings/COP-16 ) in Colombia, October 21st-November 1st 2024. This is the first time that a member of the Department of Philosophy has been selected to represent the university at a UN ‘COP’ (Conference of the Parties).
On her return from the international meeting, Simona will give a CHESS talk and host a Q&A regarding her experiences, answering the questions we all want to hear an answer to: What can a philosopher contribute to this kind of event? Are philosophers increasingly welcome at such events? Or are international political conferences still listening only to scientists?
