DISC hosted our 22nd Anniversary conference at the end of March this year, celebrating more than 20 years since the research centre was opened and the work and impact that has been generated since.
Seven speakers from around the world spoke about research and interventions relevant to the theme ‘Implementing Infant Sleep Research in Practice’. The in-person and online audiences were able to ask questions of our speakers, view a range of research and intervention posters, and interact with other delegates. We also celebrated the launch of a new training programme for health practitioners titled ‘Sleep, Baby & You’.
The conference was attended by 474 people from 32 countries including the UK, US, Canada and New Zealand, as well as Lithuania, Spain, and Taiwan.
Feedback from delegates described the event as ‘very well organised and well-presented’, ‘interesting and informative’, and ‘[a]n interesting and stimulating conference providing much food for thought’.
The conference presentations were recorded and uploaded to a special webpage, where delegates were able to access them for 30 days. As well as the videos of the presentations, a ‘highlights’ video was filmed, capturing feedback from some of the delegates and showcasing the splendid venue. This video, along with the one created for the case study on research impact at Durham, will help demonstrate how we have implemented infant sleep research in practice, and how we continue to engage with others who do the same.
