Professor Robin Coningham
Robin holds UNESCO's 2014 Chair on Archaeological Ethics and Practice in Cultural Heritage and Durham’s Chair in Early Medieval Archaeology, and is Associate Director (World Heritage) of Durham's Institute of Mediaeval and Early Modern Studies (IMEMS) and Co-Director of Durham's MA International Cultural Heritage Management programme. Robin was involved in the co-design and co-direction of post-disaster field interventions in Kathmandu after the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, and in Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka, and has co-directed archaeological fieldwork in southern Nepal for UNESCO and the Government of Nepal since 2011. He was also one of the 100 invited participants of the December 2021 ICOMOS-IPCC-UNESCO Co-Sponsored Meeting to advance heritage and culture-based actions for climate change adaptation and carbon mitigation.
