Dr Qian Gao
Qian began working as an Assistant Professor in Museums and Heritage at the Department of Archaeology, Durham University, in 2021. She is an early-career researcher with research experience that combines archaeology, and heritage and museum studies. Between 2017 and 2021, Qian worked at the University of Stirling (UK), first as a postdoctoral research fellow, and then as an Anniversary Fellow (full-time postdoctoral position) beginning in 2018. Prior to this, she obtained a PhD, an MA, and a BA at the University of Barcelona (Spain), Durham University (UK), and the Communication University of China. Qian specialises in Chinese/Asian heritage and rock art studies, and her research interests mainly include 1) the inter-relationships between the understanding, use, conservation and management of heritage and museums in China/East Asia, and 2) the dynamics between “Eastern” and “Western” heritage expertise in international cooperation.
