Dr Dan Lawrence 

Dan is an Associate Professor in the Archaeology of Southwest Asia in the department of Archaeology at Durham University. He is an expert in the archaeology of ancient Mesopotamia, modern day Iraq, Syria, and parts of Turkey and Iran, and has published papers on the emergence of urbanism and the relationship between past societies and climate change. Dan is also involved in heritage protection work, and is co-director of the Durham branch of the Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa (EAMENA, https://eamena.org/) project with Professor Graham Philip. He is also a co-investigator on the Fragile Landscapes project, which uses archaeological and historical data to develop modern sustainable water management practices in the Konya Plain, Turkey (https://biaa.ac.uk/research/fragile-landscapes/).
