The Judith Howard Lecture 2024
The Howard Lecture is an annual lecture which celebrates world-leading early to mid-career academics working in the biophysical sciences from anywhere in the world. It is named in honour of one of the founders of the BSI Professor Judith Howard CBE FRS. We were very pleased to welcome Dr Ioanna Mela (Cambridge) to Durham for the 2024 Prize Lecture.
The Judith Howard Lecture 2024
DNA nanotechnology and advanced microscopy for targeted antimicrobial delivery
Dr Ioanna Mela (Cambridge) was the 2024 Judith Howard Lecture prize winner. This is the BSI’s flagship event, named in honour of Professor Judith Howard CBE FRS. The 2024 lecture attracted over 100 attendees from across the Faculty of Science and gave a whistlestop tour down interesting rabbit holes from Ioanna’s research into the use of DNA nanotechnology to deliver antimicrobial drugs.
The talk was followed by the summer research bursary poster session which showcased the wonderful research undertaken by this year's undergraduate bursary students.
