This year’s Durham Global Week will see over 70 events take place here in Durham and in over 30 locations around the world, through our Durham Days alumni celebrations. From Saturday 1 to Sunday 9 March we will be celebrating the university's international impact, through our students, staff and connections, under the theme of ‘Culture – Community – Connect’.
With students and staff from over 120 countries, Global Week is the perfect opportunity to showcase Durham's extensive global reach building on our strength as a leading global university.
The week will feature a diverse range of events for staff, students, guests and the local community to enjoy. Events are focused on different aspects of Durham's global connections, including research, languages, culture, and global citizenship.
The week begins with WorldFest at Durham Students’ Union, where our international students will share their cultures through music, dance, food and crafts.
Highlights of the programme will include guest speakers, film screenings, concerts, workshops, as well as a full day conference on ‘Internationalisation at Home’. Many events will include external partners, welcoming eminent scholars and experts to share their knowledge and experiences.
The week will culminate with the presentation of the Durham Global Awards at a ceremony being held in the Oriental Museum, on Friday 7 March. With awards across 10 categories, we recognise and celebrate the contributions of students and staff, to Durham's internationalisation efforts.
Global Week celebrates Durham's multicultural community, highlighting the importance of global awareness, and recognising the university's global impact.
We are encouraging all Durham students, staff to participate by attending events or proposing their own event ideas.
