The Blueprint Startup Challenge is back and better than ever - with a £50,000 prize fund up for grabs! Durham’s flagship business idea competition is now in its 21st year of supporting our students and graduates to launch and grow successful startups.
The Blueprint Startup Challenge is open to students with any startup idea and at any stage of development. The competition is a year-long process, running over Michaelmas and Epiphany terms, that provides a package of support, designed to help students develop their business ideas. Run by the Venture Lab team, within the Careers & Enterprise department, it offers:
The competition will culminate in the Grand Final in June 2024, with the winners receiving the Blueprint Award at the Celebration of Enterprise Event and prize money totalling £50,000.
Enterprise Manager, Rachel Bickerdike, is looking forward to seeing some exciting ideas proposed. She said; “This is a great chance for our students and recent graduates to showcase their ideas and get their businesses off the ground, with support from the Venture Lab team.”
Recent Durham startups have been featured by Earthshot Prize, BBC’s Dragons Den, Wired Magazine and Forbes 30 Under 30, and have been on some of the world’s most famous accelerator programmes including IndieBio and Tech Stars.
