Here at Durham University we have a strong leadership team that is driving forward our strategy to be world-leading across research, education and the wider student experience. We’re very pleased to be welcoming to that team Dr Amanda Wilcox, who will join us as University Secretary.
Amanda has extensive experience in higher education and is an authoritative and authentic leader. She has successfully led professional service operations and change programmes, both at an institutional and service level.
She joins us from York St John University, here in the UK, where since 2018 she has been Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Governance and Student Life). She has also served the Office for Students, the Higher Education Funding Council, the University of Hull and the Quality Assurance Agency.
The University Secretary is responsible for our overall governance, assurance and legal compliance. They support and advise our governing body and board of trustees, as well as other governance committees.
The University Secretary’s Office comprises our Governance and Executive Support, Information Governance, Legal Services, and University Assurance Service teams.
Amanda said: “I am delighted and honoured to be joining Durham University as University Secretary. Durham is one of the world’s leading universities and I look forward to working with the Chair of Council and the Vice-Chancellor to support the University in achieving its ambitious objectives.”
We extend many warm congratulations to Amanda and we look forward to welcoming her to Durham.
