‘The Collegiate Way – Living and Learning for the Future’ returns to Durham 2-5 Dec 2025 – register your interest now

Together with presentations and panel discussions, there will be opportunities to meet college students and staff in the delegate's affiliated college and to experience college activities.

 

Programme

2 Dec – arrivals, registration, evening networking and welcome dinner

Opening keynote address (3 Dec): Professor David Wilkinson – astrophysicist, theologian and Principal of St John’s College, Durham 2006-2023

The programme will also include the opportunity to meet students and staff in the delegate’s affiliated college and to attend a Formal college dinner.

Other activities include the opportunity to experience the colleges’ sporting, volunteering and performing arts activities.

 

Submission of proposed presentations and panel discussions - opening soon

Submission for proposals for contributions to the conference programme is now open – deadline 29 June 2025

Contributions in the form of posters, presentations, panel discussions etc are welcome. Themes may include any topic relevant to the collegiate way, including the value of collegiate systems in 21st century, supporting wider student development, student support and welfare, connecting and engaging alumni, freedom of speech and learning to disagree well, developing leaders and team players, meeting challenges in a fast-changing world, facilitating broad scholarship and reflective, independent thinking, developing good citizens, and more beyond. Some suggested main themes are outline on the submission site, but all suggestions are very welcome.

Pricing

Registration opening soon. All those who have registered their interest in attending will be notified when registration is open.

Registration prices include all midday and evening meals including the Gala dinner (except for students) in Great Hall, University College, Durham Castle on the final evening

Full Conference Early Bird (up to 30 Sept)  £390

Full Conference Late Bird (up to 17 Nov)  £450

Full Conference student rate excluding Gala Dinner (up to 17 Nov)  £200

Day rate for Wednesday 3 Dec or Thursday 4 Dec   £80

Day rate excluding Gala Dinner for Friday 5 Dec  £70

Gala Dinner optional extra for students, Friday day rate delegates  £45

and non-registered guests

 

Accommodation and travel

We are finalising a block allocation of rooms at the Hotel Radisson, and will announce the conference room prices with the booking link soon.

The two local airports (Newcastle and Teesside) are both linked by internal flights to major UK international airports. Train services also link Durham to London, Edinburgh and Manchester.
