Located primarily in central Seoul, this private research university is known for its science and engineering programmes. Its name means "to make" (성; 成; seong), "harmonious society" (균; 均; gyun), "institute" (관; 館; gwan).

Programme Information

Students applying to SKKU must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

The Exchange Student Program is open to students from SKKU's partner universities. It provides participants with an academically enriching experience, as well as opportunities to explore Korea’s unique history and culture.

Exchange and Visiting students are allowed to take up 18 credits (6~7 courses). As all exchange and visiting students are classified as bachelor's degree students in the SKKU system, they must follow a separate method for enrolling in graduate classes.

Language Requirements

Students must be fluent in either Korean or English (evidence of language proficiency not required).

Accommodation

The on-campus accommodation has designated date to apply. Students will be informed the application dates when they receive the Admission package from SKKU. 

Most students will be accepted to dormitory as long as they apply for it and pay fees during the assigned period. SKKU policy is that you cannot choose a specific dormitory room type and your roommate. Please be aware, all dormitories have a curfew from 1AM to 5AM.

There are also various off-campus housings where international students can stay per semester or year. Students can contact the off-campus manager and reserve their room.

Supporting Documents Required

  • Photograph of student (3x4 cm preferred)
  • Photocopy of valid passport with personal identification page
  • Certificate of scholarship beneficiary (only for graduate students doing research)
  • Transcript with cumulative academic record for all courses taken
  • Language requirement for Business Administration majors: one from TOEFL(iBT 80 or above/ITP 550 or above), IELTS(6.0 or above), English CEFR(B2 or above), CET(4 or above) TOPIK(3 or above) or Duolingo English Test(110 or above)

The language certificate should be an official, valid one issued by the testing institution. university/language institution of a student. It's not required for students who meet at least one of the following:

  1. Native speakers
  2. Students other than Business Administration major
  3. Applicants with undergraduate/graduate degrees from institutions in which English is the primary language of instruction

Insurance

  • Students with a D-2 visa are automatically enrolled in Korea’s National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) once they receive their Alien Registration Card (ARC).
  • Monthly fee: approx. USD 60 (automatically billed)
  • Not all treatments are covered by NHIS — we highly recommend purchasing private insurance as well.
